Classes
Educational programs are held at the garden to support the Northwest Horticultural Society (NHS). Betty Miller was a founder of NHS in 1966 and was instrumental in making it one of the premier educational horticulture organizations in the country. Classes cover a wide range of topics and typically focus on the unique Miller Garden plant collection, as well as practical applications of gardening techniques. A list of this year's classes can be found at the NHS website. If you are interested in attending please contact NHS. All proceeds support the activities of the Northwest Horticultural Society.

"In Sync with the Flora of Chile" by Dan Hinkley and Richie Steffen
- Center for Urban Horticulture (Free parking and admission)
- As the Foundation ramps up its fundraising campaign for the Gateway to Chile—the next exhibit to be created in the Pacific Connections Garden—famed plantsmen Dan Hinkley and Richie Steffen invite you to join them for a lecture about the fabulous flora of southern Chile. Dan and Richie believe that, despite the dominance of Eurasian plant species in the gardens of the Pacific Northwest, there is no place on earth more in sync with our region—floristically speaking—than southern Chile. And though Northwest gardeners are familiar with such beauties as Embothrium and Araucaria, much of Chile's astoundingly beautiful flora is completely off our collective horticultural radar. In this talk and slide presentation, you'll learn about a number of species that are profoundly worthy of wider cultivation.
- Please RSVP. Seating for the lecture is limited. Email Cheri Shanahan or call her at 202-325-4510 to RSVP. Please include your name, phone number, and number of people attending.
